AUCTION : 1015

Lot#: 891

DESCRIPTION: Chelsea Clock Co., Boston, Mass., 8 1/2" special dial "Commodore" or "Base and Ball" cast brass, 8 days mantel clock with house strike, sold by Jaccard Jewelry, Co., Kansas City, MO, 1913
CONDITION: the lacquered brass case, with hinged bezel, has just small tarnish spots. The dial shows minor fading and scratches, especially around the winding holes, but the applied bronze numbers and hands are fine. The early movement, serial # 86761, ticks and strikes okay. The serial number called for a ship's strike, but that at some time the movement was changed to house strike to suit the owner. The number, 96854, stamped in the wood base is from the same year and possibly was associated with the movement right from the start. Ht 12"
ESTIMATE: $1000 - $1500
PRICE SOLD: $1400
